Hamed Al-Maqtari… A Young Arab Who Shortened the Distance to the Title of Millionaire

Hamed Al-Maqtari worked at a high pace and in record years. What distinguishes him is that he never said, “I’ve made it.”
Success is not measured by age, nor are miracles reserved for the elderly. Achievement is what dominates the scene of real life and crowns its owner’s story. History is full of stories of many successful and great people, not based on the number of their days or their ages, but rather it stands at the threshold of youth—young men and women who launched into the horizon, surpassing the boundaries of time and place. The present also reveals many secrets of numerous young people who started from zero and have become a significant force on the list of success.
Globally, Mark Zuckerberg, at the age of 23, became one of the most prominent figures in the world after founding the social media platform “Facebook.” In the Arab world, Malak Jihad Oqeili, for example, is an inspiration to a new generation of businesswomen in Jordan, after being chosen by the Jordanian World Economic Forum in 2017 as one of the most influential young men and women in the world in the fields of art and social work. In Yemen, the list is long, but young goodwill ambassador Hamed Al-Maqtari stands out as one of the most prominent youth figures in Yemen and the Arab world, even though he is still at the beginning of his life.
Twenty-seven years have passed since the birth of one of the youngest Yemeni businessmen, yet he is one of the most experienced in free trade and entrepreneurship. He has overcome, at a young age, all the obstacles facing those who wish to enter the business field in Yemen, which forced him to transfer most of his activities outside his homeland—to Russia, Malaysia, and Turkey. Nonetheless, he did not cut ties with his people and community; on the contrary, he strengthened them through his charitable and humanitarian initiatives, not just during Ramadan but throughout the year.
Young Hamed Mahmoud Al-Maqtari did not surrender to the harsh circumstances that overwhelmed his country due to ongoing conflicts, which divided the state into scattered cantons and the society into multiple sects and ethnicities. His benevolent hand reached everyone, without discrimination based on politics, region, or ethnicity, transcending narrow affiliations toward a broader concept of humanity.
From a young athlete who loved football and played professionally in several clubs, to a young man sitting in the front rows of businesspeople, Hamed began his journey through his media company “HMC Productions.” This company marked the start of his journey and exposure to the world, through which he was able to produce various works in several Arab and Asian countries—producing many documentaries and promotional advertisements, focusing on tourism, history, culture, science, and more.
Hamed Al-Maqtari worked at a high pace and in record years. What distinguishes him is that he never said, “I’ve made it.” Rather, he kept going, viewing every success as a prelude to another and every experience as a step toward future achievements. Each advancement opened up new prospects in different fields. Thus came his second company, the oil brokerage firm “HM Oil Trading,” a new experience for a young man in this field—but certainly a successful one.
His successes continued, and his ambitions grew. He did not stop at the food company “HM Foods,” considered his third venture, but continued forward until he entered the world of fashion, starting with the clothing company “HM,” which became a distinctive brand competing with major companies in the Middle East through its label, now worn proudly by celebrities and fashion enthusiasts. He later founded his commercial group known as “HMC International,” which became one of the leading companies.
Although the field of business consumes a lot of time and energy, Hamed Al-Maqtari dedicated a large part of his efforts to charitable and humanitarian work. He began as an activist in Arab communities, serving his country and the broader Arab world. Between Russia, Asia, Africa, and the Gulf, he contributed to many relief and humanitarian efforts in Yemen and some African countries.
In just a few years, Hamed Al-Maqtari was able to form a vast network of connections with a wide range of intellectuals in the Arab, Islamic, and European worlds. He gained significant business experience through his interactions with prominent businessmen. He is known for his broad social and business relationships, which extended to important figures in Russia, Malaysia, Jakarta, and many Gulf sheikhs and princes, achieving broad success built on the trust others placed in him.
Hamed Al-Maqtari attended many qualification and training courses in several countries, moving between Russia, Malaysia, Turkey, Egypt, Germany, and Lebanon. He adopted a moderate path, offering services to all people, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, sect, or religion—qualifying him, deservedly, to be a Goodwill Ambassador.
